Hi, Caitlin. Just came across your site via an article on Edutopia, and am excited to to spend some time learning your techniques. Currently, I am getting my Master’s in Teaching in Ed Technology, and am trying to learn as much as possible about integrating technology into the classroom. Right now I am staying at home with my three kids, but have ten years of teaching experience (5 private, 5 public). My last year in the public school environment was very stressful because direct, explicit instruction was required and I felt I couldn’t teach the way the student’s learn most effectively – collaboratively with a project-based, technology-enriched pedagogy. At any rate, the high stakes testing environment is unavoidable in my area, but I want to find ways to put my own spin on teaching while still keeping the district happy (when I return). I may even look into an online teaching position….
My website is very basic…created it for a class, but haven’t invested a lot of time in it b/c of the masters and three kids. Once my next class is finished, I am going to invest more time and energy into this blog….just need to find my focus.
I’m glad you stumbled onto my blog and have found it helpful, Jennifer!
I can relate to the hectic nature of life juggling work, school and young children. I have a a 5 and 3 year old!
Good luck with your studies.
Catlin
Thank you, Barbara!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope your teachers do too.
